Mongolia has contributed troops to UN peace operations for 20 years. Almost 10,000 of them have served as peacekeepers with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan since its inception in 2011, with approximately 900 of that number having been women. Over time, the proportion of their female personnel has increased steadily.
